This will be my first climb with Summits of Hope. I was born and raised in Powell River, BC, but have called Winnipeg home since moving here in my early teens.
I have been lucky in my life that neither myself, my husband, or my daughter have ever needed a children’s hospital. My sister had a frequent flyer card for Vancouver’s Children’s when we were growing up, but that is not why I joined.
I believe very strongly that those who are in a position to help others should do so. Every act, no matter how small, makes a difference. With so many great organizations out there, I have chosen to focus on ones that assist the most vulnerable in our society: children and the elderly. The Children’s Hospital Foundation of MB was an ideal fit for this reason.
In joining Summits of Hope, I want to set an example for my daughter that, not only can we achieve great (and difficult) things if we set our minds to it, but we can also be kind and generous and help others along that quest. We live in very divisive times, so anything I can do to show her the positive aspects of travel, new cultures, philanthropy and the power of commitment, I am all in.
And as business owner, I also hope this becomes a challenge to my colleagues. If you cannot join us on the mountain, I ask that you please give generously in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
