About Me
Hello everyone. My name is Chance Breckenridge. I reside in beautiful Clearwater, British Columbia, the gateway to Wells Gray Provincial Park. I am an avid backcountry explorer and waterfall chaser. When I am not exploring the backcountry, I am involved in the fire service. I am a structural and wildland firefighter. I currently hold the position of firesmart coordinator and emergency program coordinator, for my community. I am passionate about community involvement and help out/volunteer whenever I am able. I have two sons that are both graduated from high school. One is 18 and the other 22. Now that that chapter of their life and mine is over, I am finding myself wanting to explore farther from home. I have been following Summits of Hope for many years now, and I have yearned to get directly involved. Well, now I feel it is a good time to join in the effort and the adventure.
A few years ago, I met a wonderful person whom I now share my life with. Her name is Skylar and she has shared with me her story of how BC Children's Hospital was such a big part of her early years. Throughout our discussions of her many years spent being cared for by BC Children's Hospital, Summits of Hope came into the picture. From then on, we jointly decided that we wanted to be involved and to help bring support and awareness to such an amazing place. For myself, it is a matter of community involvement and to support a great cause, to support my partner as she navigates through this amazing and inspiring adventure, and lastly because I yearm to complete the seven summits and need to start somewhere.
