I can't quite believe I'm writing my profile for my 7th expedition with Summits of Hope. I will be helping to lead the team along with Tom Higashio and Tobe and heading back to Peru on August 12th. I am already very excited as I continue to forge ahead with my fund raising events and maintain the fitness campaign.
The couch that I jumped off in 2010 to begin preparing for Everest Base Camp still exists I just don't seem to sit on it very often! The two teenagers are now becoming young adults and as they mature become ever more supportive and independent when I am away, alas Charlie the oversize pup is no longer with us, becoming very ill over the winter. The experiences I have had, the friends I've made and the children I have seen benefit from the donations made to Summits of Hope have changed my life in ways I never thought possible.
I continue to work in the Physiotherapy department at Children's Hospital and see every day the need for support from Summits of Hope and the difference it makes to the children who spend time in the hospital. For many of those children and their families they have to climb a personal mountain everyday. I feel very lucky to be able to go out, climb high and fly the Summits of Hope prayer flags in their honor and raise funds to help them take their next steps forward.
There is so much to be grateful for, thank you for supporting me in my fundraising.
