I grew up on the North Shore, so I was lucky to have mountains in my backyard. Now I live in Squamish and work in Whistler, so the mountains are still my home. I am inspired by the power and beauty of nature, and the people who live here. This next year will be a milestone of sorts, so I have decided to embrace some big personal challenges. One of which is to climb Kilimanjaro ...a dream that has been on the list for a number of years.
But climbing Kilimanjaro is not all about me. What makes this expedition very special is fundraising for BC Childrens Hospital. This goal hits close to home ...a woman who trains at our local pool recently found out her son has Leukemia, so he is being treated at BC Childrens Hospital. I also know first-hand how valuable a specialized medical facility for children can be because at 10 years old I was hospitalized for three operations. Now I am the proud Aunt of three awesome kids who will hopefully never need a hospital, but medical advancements and exceptional care need financial support, so I feel a real sense of purpose.
I look forward to sharing this experience with a great group of people, and I thank my family and friends for their support!
